Mystery Blogger Award

Much like a bus, two awards arrived when I wasn’t expecting any. Thank you ever so much to Tish MacWebber for the nomination. I always love seeing my friends and family receive recognition for their work as it inspires a sense of pride. To be actually provided an award of my own for doing something I love is incredible.

I would also like to thank Okoto Enigma for creating this Award.  It was designed for Bloggers to acknowledge their peers in the blogging world, and to be passed on from one to another to help grow the Blogging Community, and for people to discover new blogs to help them to grow and flourish.

If you would like to read more about the Award and its creator, please check out the following link: Mystery Blogger Award Background and Story.

When you are nominated for an award like this, it is meant to make you share some information about yourself, and to encourage you to acknowledge some of your own favourite Bloggers with some new nominations from you.  It is a pay it forward kind of idea, and I think it is wonderful.  That being said, there are some rules that go with being nominated.

Mystery Blogger Award Rules:

  • Put the award logo/image on your blog
  • List the rules
  • Thank whoever nominated you and post a link to their blog
  • Mention the creator of the blog and provide a link to their blog also
  • Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
  • You have to nominate 10-20 people
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog
  • Ask your nominees 5 questions of your choice; with one strange or funny question
  • Share a link to your best post(s)

Who am I? My name is Kirsty Allen and I am a dry witted, sarcastic nerd who believes in social justice and equality. I am a writer with the aspirations of publishing a novel in the coming future.

Tish Listed five questions for me to answer, as a part of the nomination and acceptance.

  1. How long have you been Blogging?
  2. If you could put a face and a name to your Muse, who would it be? (My silly question)
  3.  What is your why, as in why do you write?
  4. Do you listen to music while writing?  If so, what artists and or types of music do you enjoy listening to while writing?  Does it change as your story develops?
  5. Who is your favourite published Author?  Do you read their books only once, or do you read them frequently?  If you can’t narrow it down to just one, two or three are also acceptable as an answer, as I have three at the moment, and that is in the top three of a long list of many.

Here are my answers:

  1. I started blogging regularly at the beginning of 2017, although I have been writing for much, much longer.
  2. To answer Tish’s silly question, my muse would probably be my best friend Louise who, not only reads novels within my writing genre and has a good idea about what are good ideas and what are not so good, but she is arguably my number 1 fan, cheerleading from afar.
  3. I write because I need to. I feel like there are worlds bursting out of my brain, waiting for their chance to be fully developed onto paper.
  4. I can’t listen to anything while I am writing. My inspiration is often helped along by the sounds around me, the traffic outside, the birds chirping.
  5. I recently read The Island by Olivia Leves who showed me that stories don’t have to be told traditionally. I don’t have a favourite author, per say, but rather flirt with many books, expanding my horizons daily.

I would like to nominate (in a randomly organised list) the following Bloggers for The Mystery Blogger Award:

1.Ricardo Sexton .Welcome to my Metaphors.

2. Lorraine’s Frilly Freudian Slip life in the bipolarsphere

3.This Is Another Story About Life, Fantasy, And Everything In Between

4. Look Up Your Motivation Supplement

5.Lisa Sell Reader, I Wrote it

6. I Miss You When I Blink and other classics

7. Powered By Mangos

8.Birdie Bookworm Blog

9. Canadian Cinephile

10.Falling for Snow

In the name of networking I now need my nominees to answer a few questions about themselves. I want to get to know the bloggers behind the blog.

  1. What dreams do you aspire to?
  2. If you were any animal what would you be and why?
  3. What one tip about writing would you’d share with your 13 year old self?
  4. George Martin said: “I think there are two types of writers, the architects and the gardeners. The architects plan everything ahead of time, like an architect building a house. They know how many rooms are going to be in the house, what kind of roof they’re going to have, where the wires are going to run, what kind of plumbing there’s going to be. They have the whole thing designed and blueprinted out before they even nail the first board up. The gardeners dig a hole, drop in a seed and water it. They kind of know what seed it is, they know if planted a fantasy seed or mystery seed or whatever. But as the plant comes up and they water it, they don’t know how many branches it’s going to have, they find out as it grows.” Which type of writer are you?
  5. What inspires you on a day to day basis?

Thank you again for the nomination Tish and I look forward to reading the answers to my questions.
