Cocktails: Inspired by Meryl Streep & The Golden Globes

Yesterday morning I watched Meryl Streep’s speech at the golden globes.

To sum it up, it was incredibly moving and without once mentioning his name, she managed to reference the most powerful person in the United States of America. I have to say, I’ve got a renewed love for this lady, not only was she the best thing about ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ but she could kill it as Batman if she wanted to.

I watched one of my favourite lifestyle YouTuber stars ‘Mamrie Hart’ in her Meryl Streep’s Steepin it Up! video. The idea behind her videos is to create themed cocktails with a built in drinking game, this time being no different, she concocted a sweet and spicy drink to highlight Streep’s power woman achievements, including her backhander at the president-elect.

The written recipe can be found below:

1 Drink:

Ingredients: Fresh Lime, jalapenos, jalapeno simple syrup, Hibiscus & strawberry tea infused vodka.

Method:

In a mason jar, pour approximately 100-150ml vodka and add 3 hibiscus and strawberry tea bags and leave to infuse for about 2-3 hours.

Chop up large pieces of the jalapenos and add them to a saucepan of equal parts sugar & water. Put it on the stove and simmer for 15 mins, this will be your simple syrup.

Fill a shaker full of ice.

Squeeze ½ Lime into the shaker.

Add about 50ml of the simple syrup to the shaker.

Add the tea infused vodka to the shaker.

Shake it up baby! (dancing optional).

Pour into a classic cocktail glass or champagne saucer and garnish with a thinly sliced jalapeno (or 2).

Lord Jesus, it’s a fire!
